Liver Cirrhosis

The excerpt opposite is from a stylised movie which shows the mechanism of disease (MoD) of Liver Cirrhosis.

The Hepatocyte cells have been hidden in the first clip to help show the general flow of red blood cells through the Lobule system.

The second part shows how the Hepatocytes channel the blood cells.

Cirrhosis is a consequence of chronic liver disease characterized by replacement of liver tissue by fibrosis, scar tissue and nodules (lumps that occur as a result of a process in which damaged tissue is regenerated), leading to loss of liver function.
